This is the park closest and easiest to reach from Kandy – just east of Matale. You have to start your journey early morning and after one and half hours you will pause and visit an old suspension bright over a nice stream. Then you will go through tea plantations to mini worlds end in Knuckles Mountain Range, It is a Cliff. After that you could take a dip in a natural rock pool. Then you proceed to Wasgamuwa national park for the safari. If you are lucky you will see enough elephants and wild animals. You will stay overnight close to the park in a lodge and next morning you can go to see Veddas (indigenous people) in Sri lanka and return to Villa Rosa.

“Wasgamuwa National Park is a natural park in Sri Lanka situated in the Malate and PolonnaruwaDistricts, it is the only one national park in central province.Wasgamuwa is one of protected areas where Sri Lankan Elephants can be seen in large herds. It is also one of the important bird areas in Sri Lanka the Park is situated 105 km away from Kandy. Wasgamuwa National Park is home to 23 species of mammals. The park is inhabited by a herd of 150 Sri Lankan Elephants. Marsh elephant roams in the Mahaweli river area. Both monkeys found in the park, Purple-faced Languor and Toque Macaque, are endemic to Sri Lanka. While Water Buffalo and Sri Lankan Axis Deer are common to observe, Sri Lanka Leopard and Sloth Bear are rare.”
